Boost Your Immune System on Date Night!

DId you know that you can boost your IMMUNE SYSTEM on date night?

Research shows that real connections are associated with improving your health and setting you up to live a longer life. Date night is a great place to cultivate real connection and boost your immune system too. It is the launch pad for deepening bonds, improving communication skills (we all need help in that area right?), having FUN, and enjoying each other … all essential pieces to keeping your relationship strong and healthy.

Unfortunately, date nights are often the first thing to go when life gets busy and let’s face it, life is just busy. Being intentional about connecting with your spouse goes a very long way. Investing time here is truly invaluable. Date nights don’t need to be fancy or a big to do. Setting apart the time is the ticket. You can’t make time or find time, you have to set it apart.

Pizza on your patio or a special dessert at home after the kids go to bed can be game changers. Time set apart for coffee on your patio on a Saturday morning can make a big impact. PRO TIP: Plan your next date night when you are wrapping up the date night you are on. Keep a list of ideas of things to do on your phone.

SOME DATE NIGHT IDEAS:

Date through the Alphabet: Keep a jar with 26 pieces of paper labeled A-Z. When it's time to go on a date, pull a letter from the jar, and pick a date from that letter. Or, go down the alphabet, and do one date in the order of the alphabet until you've gone A through Z.

Play Rock, Paper, Scissors: Play the game to decide what to do on your date night.

The winner gets to pick the restaurant for dinner. You can take it a step further to play it at dinner to decide who chooses the food or dessert. After dinner, play it again to decide who gets to choose what you do next. SO FUN!

More ideas …

Try a new restaurant, cook together, play pickleball, enjoy a fire pit, go for a walk, discuss a book you’ve been reading, make a bucket list, dream big together, go on a picnic, go to a concert, take a cooking class, and HAVE FUN with it. Do your best to get rid of distractions (a.k.a. your phone) and really connect.

If you just can’t seem to get to a date night practice setting apart 9 minutes a day to intentionally connect. 9 uninterrupted minutes can have a huge impact. Ask each other one simple questions, “What do you need from me today?” and then take a minute to encourage each other in some way.

It doesn’t have to be complicated, it just needs to be intentional.

Here’s to more date nights, boosted immune systems, and deep connection!
