Five of my FAVORITE Kitchen Hacks

ONE - You don’t need to cry over cutting onions anymore!

Try putting a matchstick OR a piece of bread in your mouth (both should be sticking out a little bit) when you are cutting onions. If you have Thieves essential oil from Young Living, you can open a jar and place it very near to where you are cutting the onions.

TWO - Get more juice!

Next time you need fresh lemon juice, try this tip I learned from my cousin. Microwave a lemon for 7-10 seconds. Then, roll the lemon back and forth under your palm on the counter. You’ll get more juice from the lemon with way less effort. This works on even the hardest lemons.

THREE - Save the herbs!

Nothing is worse than buying fresh herbs and seeing them wilt the next day. Keep herbs like parsley, basil, and cilantro bright with this little tip! Trim the stems and place them in a small mason jar of water. Then place a produce bag loosely over the top. Store in the fridge or on the counter for up to two weeks!

FOUR - Rescue salty soup!

Next time you oversalt a soup, toss a few wedges of raw apple into the pot. Simmer for 10 minutes and discard the wedges … your flavor will get back to normal in a hurry.

FIVE - Glove up

Wear gloves when you are cutting spicy peppers, onions, or handling raw chicken. You won’t touch your eyes with peppery hands, your hands won’t smell like onions, and well … who likes raw chicken all over their hands?

I snag our gloves on Amazon or at Webrestaurantstore.com. I use food-handling vinyl gloves, so they fit well.
