Take your Salad Kits to the Next Level
Salad Kits are a great launchpad and vehicle for a quick vitamin-packed meal.
I’m sharing lots of EASY tips and tricks to help ramp up your salad kits! They are great to take as lunches too using leftover protein. You can snag lots of macros and fuel your body well with these ideas!
Benefits of Eating More Salad
You can load them with micronutrients that help with bone density and improve muscle performance
They have lots of fiber which helps reduce bad cholesterol, helps control blood sugar, and can impact digestion
Eating healthy salads can help improve eye health
LEVEL UP Your SALAD KITS
Add Protein
You can really ramp up a salad kit by topping it with your favorite protein. Grilled or rotisserie chicken, salmon, steak, pork tenderloin, or even a burger are some great options.
Bump Up the Veggie Content
We like to add more veggies to kick up the micronutrients. This is a great way to use up leftover veggies. We also like to top our salads with roasted veggies like broccoli, sweet potatoes, yellow onion, green beans, or asparagus. I always add chopped spinach to my salad kits, too.
Add Fruit
We love adding fruit to some of our salad kits! It adds a little sweet, more fiber, and even a good little crunch factor. Some of our go-tos are pears, Honeycrisp apples, oranges, blueberries, red grapes, and strawberries.
Add some nuts
Adding nuts can ramp up flavor, fiber, protein, and antioxidants. Some great options are sliced almonds, spicy pecans, walnuts, salt and pepper pistachios, or chili lime pistachios.
More Fixins
Season your salad up by adding Greek seasoning to a Mediterranean salad kit or chile lime seasoning to a Southwestern salad kit.
Spice your salad up by adding jalapenos or banana peppers.
Avocado, black beans, corn, and bacon are great add-ins too.
Use the Salad Kit as a Topping
Salad kits and bagged slaw kits make great toppings for things like burgers, pulled pork or grilled chicken sliders, tostadas, or tacos.
Lighten Up the Kit
You can skip half the dressing and even ditch the cheese if you want to lighten up your salad kit. Fresh lemon or lime juice are great dressing alternatives too!
Our Favorite Salad Kit Options
Some of our favorite salad kits are the Mediterranean, Buffalo Ranch, and Southwestern from Trader Joe’s, and we love the Avocado Ranch and Harvest Apple made by Taylor Farms available at Sprouts, Target, and sometimes Wal-Mart.
